Founding Partner of CGV Advogados, Ilan Goldberg has distinguished himself in the fields of insurance and reinsurance for approximately 30 years. At the firm, he heads the Insurance, Reinsurance, Advisory and Special Matters practices.

He is currently undertaking postdoctoral research in Commercial Law at the University of São Paulo Law School (USP). He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Law from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), a Master’s degree in Regulation and Competition from Universidade Candido Mendes (UCAM), and a postgraduate qualification in Business Law from IBMEC. He earned his law degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

For many years, he has been recognised by leading legal directories, including Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500 and Lexology, for his work in the insurance and reinsurance sectors.

He teaches at FGV Direito Rio, among other institutions.

He is the author of several prominent legal works, including O Contrato de Seguro D&O (3rd edition), Direito dos Seguros em Movimento, Direito de Seguro e Resseguro, and Do Monopólio à Livre Concorrência: A Criação do Mercado Ressegurador Brasileiro.

He is a member of prominent academic and professional organisations, including the Brazilian Section of the International Association for Insurance Law (AIDA Brasil), the Brazilian Institute of Insurance Law (IBDS) and the Brazilian Institute of Civil Law (IBDCivil). He also serves on editorial boards and acts as a peer reviewer for specialised legal journals.
